Happy New Year everyone! We are excited to let you know about two things we're up to this month: a conference in Munich and the start of our new work for Freiburg, The Hidden Choreography of Everyday Life...

Winter's greetings from Soph and Dan

Talking at the Sensitive Data conference in Munich

We will be travelling to Munich to take part in the Sensitive Data conference at the Münchner Kammerspiele (1). We are on a panel with Florian Malzacher, Angela Richter and Martin Zeyn at 11am on Sunday 22 January called TRACE YOURSELF: THE SURVEILLANCE OF ART. Should be fun, hope to see some of you there.

Hidden Choreography begins in Freiburg

We will be in Freiburg im Breisgau between 23–27 January beginning the handing out of GPSs to the public for our new project The Hidden Choreography of Everyday Life (German title: Die Verborgene Cheorgrafie des Alltags). For this Depot Erbe (2) commission, culminating in March at the Museum für Neue Kunst, we are wondering; Are we really free to go where we want? Are our movements very predictable or do they surprise us? When we put them all together, what sort of a portrait do we make of our surroundings? Related to our previous works A Day in the Life – the Walkers of Birmingham and Crossing Paths, this time we will be making more of a cinematic, film outcome which will include other visual and sound material other than the GPS animation (thanks as always to Peter Vasil for his programming skills).

If you have friends, relatives and aquaintances in Freiburg who would be willing to have their daily journeys tracked for a day and see them become part of a film. We will be hanging round the foyer of Theater Freiburg when there are performances all that week or you can drop us an email to make an appointment. The GPSs can also be borrowed over the next month and we will return in February to interview participants.
